Acrylic, wax, stained glass paint, enamel paint, silicone sealer, varnish on canvas.
The idea here was to make the painting look a bit like stained glass, with black ‘lead’ containers filled with colour, varnish and wax.
There are three flowers, which represent our three children, and two leaves, which represent Liz and I.
With all the wax, I used to wonder if the painting would just disappear on a hot day or if it was in a room where the heating was turned up too high. It hasn’t happened, so I think the varnish keeps it all together.
