Ink, watercolour, gouache on Arches paper.

I was wrestling with the question of to what extent Alice, the Jabberwocky and the other characters in the Lewis Carroll classic are separate entities, or aspects of the author’s personality. In any event, they are often re-imagined by artists subject to further interpretation by viewers.

I used the robust qualities of Arches paper to the full here, flooding with colours and sandpapering to create the textures.
